Posted

Work created during the “Feels Like Home” workshops was shared with the community during an Aug. 7 opening reception at the Murray Convention and Visitors Bureau. The exhibition featured poetry and visual art by participants from Serenity Recovery and Neartown Recovery and remained on display through Aug. 14.

“Feels Like Home” was a collaborative arts project for adults in recovery from addiction that used poetry and visual art to explore the many meanings of home. The project included workshops with participants from Neartown Recovery and Serenity Recovery and culminated in a public exhibition at the Murray Convention and Visitors Bureau in August.

The project was funded through a $5,000 Arts Access Assistance: Arts and Health grant awarded to The Murray Sentinel by the Kentucky Arts Council and carried out in partnership with the Murray Art Guild, Neartown and Serenity. Award-winning playwright and poet Constance Alexander led the poetry workshops, while MAG Executive Director Debi Henry Danielson led the visual arts workshops.
