MURRAY – The 6th Annual Philanthropy Week will return to Murray April 6-10 with a lineup of public events highlighting the people and organizations working every day to strengthen local communities and support children and families.
Philanthropy Week is a collaboration between Murray State University Nonprofit Leadership Studies program, the Nonprofit Resource Center, the Department of Organizational Communication & Leadership and the Aurthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business.
The week’s programs include:
• April 6: Open house at the Murray Art Guild,
• April 7: Darkness to Light training facilitated by Lotus,
• April 9: Philanthropy Week Keynote Conversation and Donna Herndon Award Ceremony,
• April 10: Green Dot Community violence prevention program, also facilitated by Lotus.
The open house will be held Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Murray Art Guild, 500 N. Fourth St. Murray Calloway County Transit Authority will provide shuttle service from Murray State’s Curris Center to the guild and back.
The Darkness to Light training will take place Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Ohio Room of the Curris Center. The training is free and open to the public.
The Philanthropy Week Keynote Conversation and Donna Herndon Award Ceremony will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in Wrather Auditorium on the Murray State campus.
This year’s conversation will feature Lori Brown Wells, CEO of Lotus; Debi Henry Danielson, executive director of the Murray Art Guild; and Shawn Johnson, family services office supervisor for recruitment and certification with the Department for Community Based Services. The conversation will be hosted by Nonprofit Leadership Studies faculty member Melanie McCallon Seib.
The Green Dot overview, hosted by the Murray Women’s Club, will take place Friday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Women’s Club Clubhouse, 704 Vine St. The program is open to the community.
