Live storytelling series kicks off October 15 at Wits’ End Records

Posted

Story lovers of all ages are invited to attend the first Western Kentucky Live Storytelling event at Wits’ End Records, 514 Main St., Murray, on Thursday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. Listen to talented storytellers from across the region, including Murray native and touring comedian Sarah Hines, or share one of your favorites. There will be no set theme for this first event, and volunteers from the audience will be invited to tell stories up to 10 minutes long.

“Whether a story has us on the edge of our seats, makes us laugh or cry in the same breath, or simply entertains, live storytelling is one of the oldest traditions that connects us to one another,” said Alex DeBonis, organizer of Western Kentucky Live Storytelling and English professor at Bethel University (McKenzie, Tennessee). DeBonis, who lives in Murray, came up with the idea for a storytelling series after participating in Open Mic nights at Wits’ End Records.

“My goals are to both engage in the tradition of storytelling and bring together community members who appreciate that tradition,” DeBonis said “Bring your families and friends.”
