MURRAY – Calloway County Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting at the district’s central office on Feb. 12.
The board began the meeting by approving numerous invoices and applications related to recent and ongoing renovations for the athletic facilities on the central campus. The board also approved the sale of $3.96 million in bonds to finance the renovations for roofing projects at Calloway County High School, North Calloway Elementary School, and East Calloway Elementary School. The board also approved the district’s physical activity wellness report after a brief presentation from Assistant Superintendent Josh McKeel.
Superintendent Tres Settle, Transportation Director Matt Turner, and board members praised the district’s maintenance staff for clearing parking lots and walkways to expedite the return of school days after the winter storm in early February. Settle also praised Turner and the district’s drivers for creating modified bus routes and contacting affected families to avoid slick roads upon the return.
Maintenance Director Kenny Duncan noted the East Elementary roof project will begin in February. Settle and Duncan discussed the construction progress of the new tennis courts and the baseball/softball restrooms.
Supervisor of Instruction Ryan Marchetti reported strong district results on the 25-26 Kentucky IMPACT survey. That survey was given in the fall to teachers to gather feedback on working conditions, school climate, and school leadership.
Principals from all schools discussed their ongoing extracurricular events and the success of their students, ranging from CCHS girls’ basketball winning the 2A state championship to the success of the academic teams at the elementary schools.
The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Calloway County Board of Education is Thursday, March 19, at 6 p.m. at the Calloway County Schools district office.
