From Hazel to Penny Grocery, car shows showcase local rides

Calloway county car enthusiasts had  two opportunities to show off and view local automobiles this weekend.

The Penny Grocery Store Museum hosted a car show on Saturday offering awards to the 15 finest cars or trucks and a Best in Show.  Hunter Gingles, who runs the museum, said there were 64 registered vehicles but about 75 vehicles showed up.

The town of Hazel hosted the Hazel Horsepower Cruise-In, also on Saturday. Vintage cars, custom builds, and classic trucks lined the main strip through the town of Hazel for enthusiasts to view. Visitors could view the cars as well as shop the display of local vendors or visit the novel businesses Hazel is so well known for.
