Murray State football player arrested for sexual abuse; records scrubbed

UPDATE (Sept. 28, 2026):  On Sept. 9, Bullock pleaded guilty pursuant to North Carolina v. Alford after prosecutors amended the original charge of first-degree sexual abuse, a Class D felony, to sexual misconduct, a Class A misdemeanor. An Alford plea allows a defendant to plead guilty without admitting guilt while acknowledging that prosecutors have sufficient evidence to obtain a conviction.

Calloway District Judge Randall Hutchens sentenced Bullock to 360 days in jail but conditionally discharged the sentence for two years. Under Kentucky law, conditional discharge allows a defendant to remain out of jail subject to conditions imposed by the court. If the discharge is not revoked during that period and no court warrant is pending when it ends, Bullock will be finally discharged without serving the jail sentence.

Murray State University is short one Racer on their football team following an arrest earlier in the week, with his stats and existence on the university’s websites removed. According to the university, he is no longer part of athletics.

Aaron Bullock, 22, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, was arrested by the Murray Police Department  and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a Class D felony, July 12. According to complaint warrant, which labels the event as a sexual assault, Bullock put his hands on a 15-year-old’s genitalia at Chestnut Park the day before.

A friend of the victim was also present at the park. According to the warrant, the friend could see the girl was uncomfortable and began yelling at Bullock and threatened to call the police, causing Bullock to run away. The girl and her friend provided authorities with a photo of Bullock, his vehicle and the approximate location of his address.

Calloway County District Court Judge Randall Hutchens set a $1,000 surety bond in Bullock’s case, which was posted July 13.

A surety bond requires a third party to sign for a defendant’s release. The third party must either be a resident of Kentucky or own property in the state. If the defendant does not appear for court or fails to follow conditions of release, the surety would be responsible for paying the amount of the bond.

Bullock’s bond conditions include no contact with the alleged victim and staying away from Chestnut Park.

Bullock transferred to MSU this year as a senior from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, after being signed as a wide receiver with the Racers in February, according to social media posts shared by both him and Murray State Football (@racersfootball).

Shawn Touney, MSU’s executive director of marketing and communication, told The Sentinel via email Bullock is not a part of athletics.

“Murray State is aware of a legal matter involving an individual who is not an active member on an athletics roster and has no further comment,” Touney wrote.

While Bullock does not appear on the university’s athletics roster – nor is there any mention of him in MSU’s URLs – he appears on USAToday’s roster as No. 39. The same site maintains a profile of him, which identifies MSU as his college, but his stats have been scrubbed. The same is true with Fox Sports. There are also posts about Bullock’s signing the team on his Instagram and X accounts.

A review of Bullock’s personal Instagram page on July 17 found personal details and photos of immediate family have been deleted from his account — except for his shared posts with @racersfootball.

Bullock will be arraigned in Calloway District Court at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 21.

Individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
