I’m a small business owner, CEO of a local nonprofit and have served the last 8 years on the Murray City Council. I’m currently the chairman for the Public Works Committee , hold a position on the personal and finance committee, long range planning committee, park committee and the opioid abatement work group. I pledge to continue moving Murray forward while being a good steward of the taxpayers money.
In your opinion, who is the most underserved population in Murray? How would you use your position on the city council to address their needs?
The most underserved are our young families trying to get started, we must continue fighting to find the answers to affordable housing. We need to review current ordinances, work with developers on building affordable housing, identify areas where affordable housing can be built or areas that can be revived.
How would you make yourself accessible to constituents outside your existing personal and professional circles, and how would you ensure their concerns are heard?
I will always be available to anyone looking for answers, needing advice or just questions in general. Every citizen has a voice and it should be heard. If I do not have the answer I will work until I have one for you. Whatever the concern, I will see that it makes its way to the proper channels. I’m available via multiple channels and will respond as quickly as possible. I also encourage everyone to attend committee meetings and council meetings.
When residents have strongly opposing views on an issue before the council, how would you approach making a decision?
It all begins with listening and having an open mind, everyone deserves the right to be heard and their views thoroughly taken into consideration. Regardless of my personal views, opinions and beliefs I will always support what’s best for the community as a whole while considering the long term consequences or effects it will have on our community.
