Candidate statement

My name is Jeremy Bell and I have served on the City Council for the last 20 years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Murray. The keyword is serve because that is what we do. This City gets better and better everyday and I want to make sure it continues for our future generations.

Questions and answers

In your opinion, who is the most underserved population in Murray? How would you use your position on the city council to address their needs?

I believe we have done a great job in trying to help everyone. One area that we could potentially improve on is affordable housing, whether it is for young families or those living alone. I believe we need to continue to work with our Planning and Zoning to find potential solutions.

How would you make yourself accessible to constituents outside your existing personal and professional circles, and how would you ensure their concerns are heard?

From the very beginning I have taken great pride in making myself available, whether that be answering phone calls, emails or stopping in public to talk. I believe it is important to listen so we can take concerns back to the Council and the Administration.

When residents have strongly opposing views on an issue before the council, how would you approach making a decision?

There are always going to be different views on issues. It is our job to listen to both sides whether we agree or disagree. This only helps us make the best decisions possible.
